CASE STUDY

Spooner Chamber of Commerce

The Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce is one of the largest in the area, with over 100 member businesses. The goal of this group is to support their member businesses through professional development, networking and marketing.

Spooner is an old railroad town, and that history played an important role in the formation of the community and the businesses that reside there. In recent decades, Spooner has become more of a tourism destination, with a bustling downtown shopping district, well-attended events and some amazing attractions.

The Spooner Chamber of Commerce first reached out to North of Eight Design & Marketing to help develop a new logo.

Their current logo was difficult to work with and dated. There were no vector formats, making it extremely difficult, and sometimes impossible, to work with on anything larger than a poster or flyer.

And with a new logo comes the need for new marketing collateral and a new website.

And speaking of website...

The Spooner Chamber of Commerce had ongoing difficulties with their website, citing it was both visually displeasing on the front end, and difficult to update on the back end. They knew they needed a new site, but were unsure on what that process would look like and if it could be done on a tight budget.

LOGO DESIGN

They had started the process of designing another logo with another company, but were underwhelmed with the process. Because they had a clear vision of what they were looking for, North of Eight Design & Marketing was able to execute a completed logo design in just under 2 weeks.

The new design showcases the railroad history and its affect on the business community. With three different versions and vectorized artwork that could be used to print at any size, the Spooner Chamber of Commerce finally had a logo that was representative of their non-profit.

Just as the pandemic hit, North of Eight Design & Marketing was awarded the contract to redesign the Spooner Chamber of Commerce website - and we set to work immediately. Our goal was to create something that looked visually appealing and functioned well from the user-experience side of things. But almost as important, we were tasked with ensuring the back end of the site was easy to navigate and make updates in house.

The new design features a modern site layout, clear navigation items, a call to action on each page and a robust business member directory.

AD CAmpaign concept, LAYOUT & DESIGN

With a new logo and new visual branding guidelines, the Spooner Chamber of Commerce recruited North of Eight Design & Marketing to help conceptualize and design their newest ad campaign.

After a brainstorm over coffee, we came up with the "Real Vacationl[and]" campaign - to highlight that yes, Spooner is a tourism destination, but it's also so much more.

The end result was a campaign that focused on people first - folks actually experiencing Spooner...and we love how it turned out.

"Emily and her staff are incredible to work with. I gave her a general idea of what I wanted and she made the perfect logo for us (on the first try, I might add!) with time to spare! I can't say enough wonderful things about North of Eight!"
